From X November 2024 to X January 2025 we want to hear your views on our Long Term Plan, particularly the projects and services proposed for the coming 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026 Annual Plan financial year.

This Dialogue process means we are engaging with you earlier than usual on our proposed Annual Plan, giving us more time to assess options and analyse our funded activities and outcomes.

Please note Council is not considering any major variations to its Annual Plan 2025-26 and is not proposing a formal consultation or public hearings next year. A full public consultation was carried for the Long Term Plan in April and May 2025, and 365 submissions were received from the community.

Please note that the Council is currently under considerable financial pressure due to the impacts of inflation, contract price increases, rising insurance premiums and the cost of the Sounds roading recovery. We must explore every opportunity to be more efficient in the delivery of services to our community.

Therefore there is very little room for additional funding requests. The Council will be working hard to reduce the proposed rates increase of 10.62% for 2025-26 by looking critically at our funding requirements and finding efficiencies.

Our Long Term Plan is available for you to read here: Go to the Long Term and Annual Plan page

Public feedback will be analysed and collated during February and March and presented to the Council budget meeting on 3 April 2025.

The Community Outcomes in the Long Term Plan describe the sort of community Marlborough could be in the future, as a result of actions that get taken now and in the future. Council’s contribution to achieving those community outcomes is summarised in the table* below.

With these community outcomes in mind please provide your own ideas/comment, you can also vote on other peoples ideas.
